York Symphony Orchestra Association
Our volunteer association is 340 members strong and after the Orchestra, our most visible group. This volunteer organization, comprised of men and women, come together to organize and attend various special functions, such as the Winter Pops Concert, our festive and elegant Musicales, the fall Tea, the spring Luncheon and a number of other activities. They match your interests with tasks and together you get the job done and have fun doing it!
The York Symphony Orchestra Association was formed in 1933 as the Women's Symphonic Society by a group of citizens concerned about promoting an interest in a high type of musican and developing a community spirit of loyalty to the orchestra. Their original purpose was to sell tickets, ensure a full house and promote a social atmosphere at the concerts. In the seven decades since, our Association has kept to its original purpose and goals. Over the years, though, the role has expanded. As a much larger organization, the Association fully supports the York Symphony and its activities by supporting subscription drives, raising funds, providing music education to adults and children, providing promotional activities and special services to support the YSO and to assist with hospitality and entertainment for visiting artists and our concertgoers.
