Natasha Korsokova, Biography
Natasha Korsakova, of Russian-Greek descent, is one of the most popular violinists of her generation. The German Süddeutsche Zeitung describes her ability to play the violin as a "sinfully beautiful listening experience". The German FAZ speaks of her as an "exceptional violin talent". The young violinist who speaks five languages mastered the transition from praised wunderkind to grown up artist and is currently a coveted guest for national as well as international orchestras, music festivals and concert events.
She exemplifies "perfected technique, bold stylistic sense and musical intuition" (FAZ) as well as a charisma that is without equal. Natasha Korsakova was born into a music family in Moscow and began playing the violin at the age of 5. She is a descendant of the famous Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, who wrote Scheherazade and Flight Of The Bumble Bee, two of the best known pieces in classical music. Her first teacher was her grandfather Boris Korsakov. He was followed in her musical education by her father, the well-known Russian violin virtuoso Andrej Korsakov. Her mother is the pianist Yolanta Miroshnikova-Caprarica. After the early death of her father, Natasha Korsakova studied under the tutelage of Ulf Klausenitzer in Nuremberg and then later with Saschko Gavrilov in Cologne.
She has appeared in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls such as the Auditorium di Milano, Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Tokyo's Santory Hall, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. She has also appeared at international festivals, among others such as Uto Ughi per Roma, the Ludwigsburger Festspielen, Incontri Asolani, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and the Lockenhaus-Festival. Upon invitation from Irina Shostakovich, Natasha Korsakova appeared in Paris as part of a festival concert honoring Dmitri Shostakovich.
Among the renowned conductors with whom Natasha Korsakova has collaborated are Mstislav Rostropovich, Alun Francis, Heiko Matthias Förster, Georg Fritzsch, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Catherine Rückwardt and David Wiley. She plays with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Dutch Radio Broadcasting, the Mainz Philharmonic, the Duisburger Philharmonic, the Düsseldorf Symphony, the Russian State Orchestra, Filarmonica di Verona, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Plano Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfonica del Estad de Mexico and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile. In 2004 she performed the Tchaikovsky Concerto in Berlin for the 15th anniversary of the fall of Berlin wall.
An enthusiastic chamber musician, Natasha Korsakova plays together with musicians such as Uto Ughi, Kira Ratner, José Gallardo, Manrico Padovani, Giovanni Angeleri, Simone Soldati and Gabriele Ragghianti.
In 1996, Natasha Korsakova was the first musician to receive the “Russian Muse Award” in Moscow’s Large Conservatory Hall. In 1998, she was “Artist of the Year” in Chile. In July 2008, she was awarded the “Preimo Sirmione Catullo”, one of the most prestigious Italian awards given to musicians, politicians and journalists, and became “Artist of the Year” in Italy. The same year, Ms. Korsakova played a recital in Palazzo Quirinale in Rome, in the presence of the Italian State-President, as well as four performances in Kunsthistorischen Museum Vienna on the legendary violin by Guarneri del Gesú “Ex-Menuhin".
For the first time Natasha Korsakova performed at the crossover-project “Timelight Symphony”, lead by the renowned Austrian composer and producer Erwin Kiennast. The event took place on Karlsplatz in Vienna, the night before the official opening of the European Football Championship 2008.
Natasha Korsakova is playing a violin by Vincenzo Panormo (appr. 1770). This instrument has been loaned by the Sinfonima Foundation on behalfof the Mannheimer Versicherung. Her website is www.natashakorskakova.com
The artist currently resides in Germany and Italy. She is a modeling and endorsement contract (Testimonial) with Laura Biagiotti since 2006 and wears outfits from the Laura Biagiotti Prêt-à-Porter collection during her performances.
